An elderly man struck by a vehicle in San Jose late last month succumbed to his injuries days later, police said Tuesday.
The collision was reported at 7:49 p.m. on Oct. 30 in the area of McLaughlin Avenue and Tully Road, where investigators determined a man was driving a 2007 Honda sedan north on McLaughlin and struck a pedestrian who was crossing the street outside of a crosswalk, according to police.
The pedestrian, identified by the Santa Clara County medical examiner’s office as 81-year-old San Jose resident Surjit Ghumman, was taken to a hospital and succumbed to his injuries last Friday, police said.
The Honda driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators, who said impairment does not appear to be a factor in the collision.
Anyone with information about the fatal collision, the 52nd on San Jose city streets this year, can call Detective Malvido of the department’s traffic investigations unit at (408) 277-4654.
