Bay Area rain to arrive late afternoon, overnight wind advisory in place

The National Weather Service is forecasting minor to moderate rain in the Bay Area beginning late afternoon Monday and lasting until Tuesday evening. The heaviest precipitation will be seen overnight. 

Daytime highs will be in the low to mid 60s with overnight temperatures dropping moderately to low 50s.

A wind advisory is in effect until 3 a.m. Tuesday in the North Bay, East Bay, Peninsula and along the San Francisco Bay Shoreline, with south winds between 20 and 30 mph. Wind gust speeds could reach up to 45 mph.  

The weather agency categorizes the system Monday evening and through the night as a “generally weak atmospheric river.” According to the weather agency, rainfall will be heaviest in the North Bay around 8 p.m. Monday and in the South Bay around 2 a.m. Tuesday.

Dry conditions are expected in the Bay Area throughout the rest of the week.

PG&E is not reporting any planned Public Safety Power Shutoffs Monday or through the week.
