Small earthquakes rattle South Bay

Three small earthquakes registering over a magnitude 2.0 rattled the Bay Area early Monday afternoon, according to the Unites States Geological Survey.

Two of the quakes were centered about 6 miles northeast of Milpitas at the north end of the Calaveras Reservoir.

Both hit at about 1:30 p.m., with the first measuring a magnitude 3.3 and the other 2.9.

The third quake hit about 5 miles southwest of Saratoga along Skyline Boulevard and measured 2.6, according to the USGS.

Three smaller earthquakes, ranging in magnitudes from 1.2 to 1.4, also hit the same area Monday.
