Capitol Corridor strikes, kills woman on Fairfield tracks

A woman was struck and killed by a westbound Amtrak Capitol Corridor train in Fairfield on Thursday morning, according to Union Pacific Railroad officials.

The collision between the train and pedestrian occurred at about 6:16 a.m. near the intersection of East Tabor and Railroad avenues, Union Pacific spokesman Tim McMahan said.

Amtrak officials reported that all Train No. 523 passengers were transferred to Train No. 527, which was experiencing a 25-minute delay out of Suisun City as of 8:22 a.m.
