Police make arrest in Potrero Hill fatal collision

San Francisco police have arrested a person in connection with a fatal collision that occurred the morning of Nov. 2 in the Potrero Hill neighborhood.

Jesus Ocampo, 77, of San Francisco was struck by a motorist in a silver Toyota Prius and was found suffering from traumatic injuries. Ocampo was transported to Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries five days later, police officials said.

Police identified and arrested 39-year-old San Francisco resident Valeriano Batistadeoliveira for vehicular manslaughter and failure to yield to a pedestrian. Officials said Batistadeoliveira stayed at the scene of the crash and cooperated with authorities.

While police have made an arrest, the case remains open as an active investigation.
