Unknown liquid dumped in Fairfield prompts street closure

The Fairfield Police Department says Madison Street is closed between Texas and Missouri streets for a hazardous materials incident involving the apparent dumping of three barrels of an unidentified liquid behind a business.

The Solano County Hazardous Materials Response Team is working to identify the liquid and assure its proper disposal, police said.

“There are no evacuations at this time nor is there any danger to the public. This is not believed to be any type of criminal incident, other than illegal dumping,” the department said.
