Apple, Google buses damaged on I-280

Five charter buses carrying tech workers had windows damaged Tuesday while driving on Interstate Highway 280, according to the California Highway Patrol.

CHP Officer Art Montiel said:

“We’re not certain what caused the damage at this time, but we’re not ruling anything out.”

Some of the buses were headed north, others were headed south, but they all were damaged on Highway 280 somewhere between state Highway 84 and state Highway 85, a section of roadway that spans San Mateo and Santa Clara counties.

Some of the incidents occurred in the morning, while others occurred in the evening.

Four of the buses were carrying workers for the tech giant Apple, while the other was carrying Google workers. None of the buses were marked.

Montiel said:

“So there’s no indication that they’re being targeted.”

The incidents remain under investigation, and further details were not immediately available.
