Warriors guard Klay Thompson has been diagnosed with a concussion and ruled out for on-court activity until he is symptom free.
Thompson suffered the head injury in the Warriors Game 5 victory over the Rockets Wednesday when Trevor Ariza‘s knee collided with the right side of Thompson’s head.
He immediately left the game and received stitches for a laceration on his right ear and was initially cleared by doctors following a concussion evaluation. At the time he did not show any concussion-like symptoms. but he began to not feel well and developed symptoms.
Mychal Thompson, Klay’s father, told ESPN’s Mike & Mike that he had to drive Klay home after the game and that Klay threw up.
Friday the Warriors released this statement:
“Following extensive examinations over the last two days – including neurological tests earlier this morning – Warriors’ guard Klay Thompson has been diagnosed with a concussion. He will not return to the court until he is symptom-free and cleared under the NBA’s concussion protocol guidelines. He will be evaluated daily and there is no timetable for his return.”
The Warriors are set to face the Cavaliers in Game 1 of the NBA Finals on Thursday.
