Bulls lose Kris Belan as AHL comes calling

For all of you in hockey-loving lalaland that thought last week’s tweaks to the San Francisco Bulls roster were the end of it — well, there are more.

Another fan favorite — this time, hard-working, gritty winger Kris Belan — has been dropped from the Bulls roster, called up to the AHL’s Manchester Monarchs:

Belan was one of the Bulls’ very first signings in July 2012 and has played in all 55 team games this season. Belan has 8 goals and 12 assists to go along with his team-leading 130 penalty minutes.

San Francisco is still at work getting help up front. The team announced early Tuesday their AHL affiliate, the Worcester Sharks, have loaned them forward Yanni Gourde.

In his first full season at the pro level, 21-year-old Gourde totalled 13 points (8 goals, 5 assists) in 48 games during his tenure at Worcester.

Previously, Gourde led the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League with 87 assists and 124 points in 68 games, garnering him MVP honors from the league.

Gourde is expected to be in the lineup for Tuesday night’s game.

San Francisco also announced via Twitter on Monday the release of forward Colin Reddin, who was signed to the team mid-January and only played in three games.

Reddin is one of many players around the ECHL to be released on February 25.

The San Francisco Bulls continue their six-game road stand Tuesday, February 26 against the Utah Grizzlies. The puck drops at 6:05 p.m.
