Fans won’t see Bogut play this season

It was assumed, but now it has been confirmed.

Warriors fans will have to wait until next season to see Andrew Bogut. He told the Chron’s Rusty Simmons:

“At this point, I think it’s safe to say that returning this season is not going to happen.”

That’s tough news for Warriors fans to swallow. It hurts to watch the best player on your team traded and not be able to see the supposed benefits of that trade right away.

Warriors fans alerted owner Joe Lacob to their displeasure over the trade by booing the rookie owner mercilessly at halftime of Monday’s game.

But shelving Bogut for the year is definitely the smart move. There’s no sense in risking further injury. Bogut understands that.

“The most important thing is to get the bone settled. If I come back at 99 percent, and this bone is unsettled, and something shards off, I’m in big trouble.”

Warriors fans, when not overcome by frustration towards a string of inept management, are smart enough to understand that.

When Bogut does lace up his Nikes next season, a lot of eyes will be watching him. Huge expectations are riding on the shoulders of the seven-foot Australian when he finally dons the Warriors blue and gold.
