The northbound lanes of Interstate 880 through downtown Oakland have been reopened following an investigation involving the shooting of a child early Saturday afternoon.
The California Highway Patrol reopened the northbound lanes of the Nimitz Freeway at 5:03 p.m. The northbound lanes were closed at 23rd Avenue after a shooting on the freeway was reported just after 2 p.m.
The child was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
The investigation of the shooting continues, according to the CHP.
