A landfill reported burned 3 acres east of the Altamont Pass Wednesday, according to Cal Fire officials.
Shortly after 6:15 p.m., fire officials reported that the fire on the 1600 block of Grant Line Road had been contained to large mulch piles that continue burning for an extended period of time.
The National Weather Service Bay Area posted a photo from an observation camera showing smoke rising from the ground between the area’s power-generating windmills, noting that wind gusts in the area are reaching 52 mph.
The Bay Area is under a wind advisory for Wednesday and Thursday and gusts are also affecting traffic through the Altamont Pass.
