A 92-year-old woman involved in a traffic crash in Vallejo on Sunday has died, according to the Vallejo Police Department. The woman, a front-seat passenger in a vehicle that crashed into a traffic signal pole, had been hospitalized following the crash with life-threatening injuries.
Police reported her death on Thursday. The woman was a resident of Vallejo.
Police said it is believed the woman’s age was a major contributing factor to her death.
Officers responded Sunday at 4:46 a.m. to the area of Wilson Avenue and Lighthouse Drive on a report of a traffic crash.
Responding officers learned a 2011 Lexus SUV with two people inside was traveling south on Wilson Avenue when the vehicle left the roadway and crashed into a traffic signal pole.
Both occupants of the vehicle were transported to the hospital. The driver, a 58-year-old woman from Vallejo, suffered minor injuries in the crash.
Investigators said it does not appear speed played a factor in the crash as the vehicle was traveling slower than the posted speed limit at the time of impact.
Police also said it does not appear drugs or alcohol played a factor in the crash.
