San Francisco Municipal Railway’s Embarcadero station reopened Thursday afternoon after a water drainage problem caused the station to close for most of the day, prompting Muni delays all over the city. The problem was first reported around 5:30 a.m. and also caused the BART Embarcadero station, located directly below the Muni station, to briefly close.
Video and images provided by BART showed water was falling from the Muni level of the station.
BART officials, however, were able to reopen the BART station around 6:50 a.m. and normal service resumed.
Muni spokesman Paul Rose confirmed that the Muni Embarcadero station reopened around 3:30 p.m.
According to BART officials, crews were able to cap a Muni water pipe. No word on what caused the pipe to leak.
