One man died and another was arrested in Sunnyvale Tuesday morning after leading police on a pursuit out of San Francisco, California Highway Patrol officers said.
At about 12:45 a.m., CHP officers received a call that San Francisco police were pursuing two armed robbery suspects on southbound U.S. Highway 101.
CHP officers took over the pursuit at Highway 101 and Ralston Avenue before continuing south to state highways 85 and 237, according to CHP Redwood City Officer Art Montiel.
The suspects exited Highway 237 at Grant Road and turned left on Fremont Avenue before losing control of the vehicle, hitting five parked cars and overturning several times in a parking lot at East Fremont Avenue and El Camino Real.
The passenger was ejected from the car and pronounced dead at the scene, Montiel said. The driver was arrested and taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
Both suspects are from San Francisco and in their early 20s, Montiel said.
