San Francisco resident Eugene Bell was arrested on suspicion of murder and has been booked into San Francisco County Jail, police spokeswoman Giselle Talkoff said.
On Sunday at around 4:45 p.m. officers responded to the 2600 block of California Street for a report of a stabbing, according to police.
There they found a woman suffering from a stab wound. She was taken to a hospital where she died, police said.
The victim has been identified as 63-year-old Donna Montilliano, medical examiner’s officials said.
After a preliminary investigation, officers were able to identify Bell as the suspect, according to Talkoff. Police have not provided a possible motive for the stabbing.
Montilliano was the fifth person to be killed over the weekend in San Francisco. Four other homicides, all shooting deaths, were reported throughout the city since Friday.
