If you can read this, you’re probably old enough to remember when sports fans in Oakland and the East Bay had three proud championship professional franchises sports to claim as their own.
As of today, there are zero.
The Athletics, Oakland’s final namesake in major U.S. pro sports, walked off the Coliseum field for the final time, even as many of the 46,889 fans in attendance couldn’t quite bring themselves to leave.
