Mayor tests positive for Covid-19 after attending Warriors parade

San Francisco Mayor London Breed’s office Wednesday morning confirmed that the mayor has tested positive for Covid-19.

The Mayor’s Office said Breed will follow isolation and quarantine protocols as recommended by The City’s Department of Public Health. According to the statement, the mayor is feeling well and will conduct meetings from home.

Breed will not attend any public events during her isolation period, which would keep her from participating in Sunday’s Pride parade. She had to cancel two public events scheduled for Wednesday, including a Gap headquarters reopening celebration and an event near City Hall to kick off the Mo’MAGIC summer youth program.

The mayor took part in Monday’s Golden State Warriors championship parade.

Breed is vaccinated and boosted, her office said. No further details were provided.

The health department recommends five days of isolation for people who test positive but do not exhibit symptoms. Another test should be taken on the fifth day. If the test result is negative, they can leave home.

If the person continues to test positive, they should remain isolated at home until they test negative, or until 10 days have passed since the first positive result, whichever comes first.

Further guidance can be found on the department website.
