BART has stopped running in both directions between Pleasant Hill and Concord due to what officials initially called an “equipment problem.”
BART, County Connection and the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District all posted messages just before 5 p.m. confirming at least a partial derailment in Concord with resulting fires near David Avenue and Hastings Drive.
BART officials said riders are being evacuated, though no injuries have been reported.
County Connection buses 11 and 14 are providing mutual aid and accepting BART tickets as fare. Riders can contact County Connection customer service at (925) 676-7500.
