A vehicle crashed into the storefront of a coffee shop in Santa Rosa early Thursday morning, destroying the building’s facade and totaling the car, according to police.
The 21-year-old driver was allegedly speeding down West Ninth Street when he missed a curve, crossed a grass berm, entered the parking lot of the Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii cafe at 140 Stony Point Road, struck a tree and then spun into the glass storefront.
Officers responded to the call at 1:30 a.m. and arrived to find the wreckage with the driver trapped inside his car. Officers noted “major damage” to the vehicle and storefront. The driver had to be extracted from the car with hydraulic tools and was taken to a hospital, police said.
Police have not commented on the driver’s current condition, though they did arrest him on suspicion of driving under the influence.
