Hayward police arrest five suspects in December 2020 homicide

Hayward police have announced the arrest of five people associated with an investigation into a December 2020 homicide.

On Saturday, December 5, 2020, officers responded to the 25000 block of Eldridge Avenue after receiving reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers found four adults suffering from gunshot wounds.

Ashley Sandoval, 19, was one of the people who was shot. She was trasported to a medical facility but succumbed to her injuries on December 6. The three other victims survived their injuries.

Detectives have identified five suspects in this case, all of whom were arrested on one count of murder, three counts of attempted murder and one could of discharging a firearm into an inhabited vehicle.

The suspects include two Hayward residents, 19 and 22, a 21-year-old San Mateo resident, a 23-year-old from San Carlos and a 19-year-old from Manteca.

Detectives say they worked “tirelessly” for months to identify suspects through “countless” interviews, warrants and other investigative steps.

The Hayward Police Department said:

“Our thoughts are with the three surviving victims and the Sandoval Family as they continue to mourn the loss of their loved one, Ashley.”
