One man dies, another suffers injuries in midday Haight Street shooting

A shooting in San Francisco’s Haight-Ashbury neighborhood on Thursday afternoon left one man dead and another injured, according to police.

The shooting was reported around 1 p.m. in the 1400 block of Haight Street near Masonic Avenue.

Officers arrived and found the two victims. One was pronounced dead at the scene and his name has not yet been released, while the second was taken to a hospital and an update on his condition was not immediately available Friday morning.

San Francisco police have not announced an arrest or released any suspect information in the shooting. Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the department’s tip line at (415) 575-4444 or to send a tip by text message to TIP411 and begin it with “SFPD.”
