Magnitude 2.7 quake west of Kensington rattles East Bay

A 2.7 magnitude earthquake shook parts of Contra Costa and Alameda counties late Thursday evening, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The temblor struck at 9:46 p.m. and was centered about a half mile west of Kensington in Contra Costa County. The quake was felt there as well as in Berkeley, Richmond, Albany, Emeryville and Oakland.

There are no reports of injuries or damage.
