Two small earthquakes strike near Hercules

A 2.8 magnitude earthquake struck in Contra Costa County early Saturday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The quake hit at 6:34 a.m. and was centered about 2.5 miles southeast of Hercules at a depth of about 6 miles. A second 2.1 magnitude hit the same area approximately two hours later.

No reports of injuries or damage have been received.
