One dead, two injured in falls at Chase Center Phish concert

Two separate falls during a music concert at San Francisco’s Chase Center on Sunday night left one person dead and two others injured, police said.

Both falls happened as the music group Phish held a concert at the venue located at 1 Warriors Way.

Just before 9 p.m., officers on duty at the concert responded to a report of man who had been injured after falling from an above level. Although medics arrived and tried to treat the man, he died at the scene, police said.

No foul play is suspected at this time, although the death remains under investigation, according to police.

About 45 minutes later, officers responded to another fall — this time involving a man who fell from above onto another man. Both victims were taken to the hospital for their injuries, which weren’t life-threatening, police said.

Investigators don’t believe foul play is a factor in the second case as well, according to police.

For the victim who died, the city’s Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the man’s exact cause of death.

Anyone with information about either case is being asked to contact the Police Department’s tip line at (415) 575-4444 or to text a tip to TIP411 with “SPD” at the start of the message.
