Crews reach 30 percent containment on 75-acre brush fire near Byron

A wind-fueled brush fire near Byron has burned 75 acres and was 30 percent contained by 11:40 a.m. Sunday, according to Cal Fire.

Reported about 9:20 a.m., the fire started near the 7900 block of Vasco Road, near the border of Contra Costa and Alameda counties.

The California Highway Patrol closed Vasco Road at Camino Diablo. No structures were threatened.

According to the agency’s Twitter account, Cal Fire responded with air and ground crews, though they said were releasing fixed-wing resources shortly before noon.

No information was available concerning how the fire started.
