Caltrans will shut down northbound Highway 242 in Concord during weekends of July 9 and July 16, 2021 for road rehabilitation work. There will one lane open during daytime hours but complete closure at night.
Northbound state Highway 242 in Concord will shut down Friday night through Monday morning and again next weekend so crews can do roadway rehabilitation work, according to Caltrans.
The closure will begin at 10 p.m. Friday and last until 10 a.m. Monday, then again at the same times from July 16 until July 19. The highway will be fully closed overnight, but one lane will reopen during the daytime on the two weekends.
The closure will be between the Highway 242/Interstate Highway 680 split and the Concord Avenue on-ramp. That on-ramp will remain open during the closures, but the Clayton Road off-ramp will close from Friday night until Sunday morning, Caltrans officials said.
People trying to connect to eastbound state Highway 4 during the closure are advised to use northbound Highway 680 to connect to Highway 4, while local traffic will be diverted to streets like Monument Boulevard, Willow Pass Road and Concord Avenue. Drivers should watch for detour signs and expect delays in the area, according to Caltrans.
