Crews extinguish Oakland warehouse fire

A fire that broke out an Oakland warehouse Tuesday has been extinguished, according to the Oakland Fire Department.

Fire officials said crews responded to the structure fire on the 2800 block of East 7th Street at 11:28 a.m. A video posted on the department’s Twitter account shows large flames and a dark plume of smoke coming from the top of a warehouse building. Several engines were called out to assist and police were asked to help control traffic in the area.

The blaze was extinguished by 11:47 a.m. but not before a second warehouse building was impacted by “exposure,” fire officials said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation and further details are expected to follow.
