Police arrest ‘armed, violent’ suspect after overnight standoff

San Jose police apprehended an armed man who had eluded them for several hours Monday night and early Tuesday morning, ending the evacuation of the surrounding neighborhood.

A 6:03 p.m. tweet from police reported that a suspect had barricaded himself in a home. Police evacuated residents in the area of Millar Avenue.

Subsequent police tweets around midnight reported an armed man fleeing from officers on foot in the same neighborhood.

Shortly after 4 a.m. Tuesday, police tweeted that the suspect was safely taken into custody and that more information would be available Tuesday morning.
