The area near Everest Public High School in North Fair Oaks, Calif. is under a shelter-in-place order due to a potentially hazardous material discovered Friday, March 12, 2021.
Residents in the 400 block of Fourth and Fifth Avenues in North Fair Oaks are being asked to shelter in place Friday while officials investigate a hazardous chemical found near Everest Public High School.
The San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office posted on social about the incident at 11:10 a.m. Friday and are investigating along with the Menlo Park Fire District. They said a deputy discovered the hazardous material while walking in the area Friday morning.
The San Mateo County HazMat team took a sample and are awaiting test results, according to a statement issued at 12:41 p.m.
Residents are asked to avoid the area for the next few hours.
