Pedestrian dies in Sunnyvale hit-and-run

A man died after being struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run in Sunnyvale late Wednesday night, according to the city’s Department of Public Safety.

Authorities responded at 11:44 p.m. to a report of a person down in the roadway at El Camino Real and Bernardo Avenue and arrived to find the man with life-threatening injuries consistent with a vehicle collision.

The man, whose name hasn’t been released, succumbed to his injuries after being taken to a hospital.

The vehicle that struck him fled prior to the arrival of first responders, and the Department of Public Safety did not immediately release any details about it or the driver.
