Contra Costa County election results offer few surprises

The Contra Costa County congressional district races landed pretty much where expected with incumbents retaining seats handily. Measure X, a 1/2 cent sales tax, is failing to meet the 2/3 vote requirement. We’ve tracked several of the key races and measures across the populous county.

Measure X imposes a 1/2 cent sales tax, exempting food, with revenue benefiting the county’s regional hospitals, community health centers, fire response, childhood services and other essential services. The 20-year tax is expected to generate $81 million annually.
