Police on Saturday continue to investigate a shooting that killed a Richmond rapper, but said two others who were wounded have been released from the hospital.
Lamonta Butcher, 29, who went by the stage name Tay Way, was gunned down shortly before noon Friday near the intersection of Fourth Street and Macdonald Avenue in Richmond’s Iron Triangle neighborhood, police said.
Butcher died at the scene and two others, a 31-year-old Hercules woman and a 50-year-old Richmond man, were hospitalized and have since been released, Sgt. Aaron Pomeroy said Saturday.
Numerous shell casings were found at the scene and detectives are following leads, but no arrests have been made, Pomeroy said.
Butcher’s death is Richmond’s 15th homicide this year.
