Residents in Oakley’s Summerlake neighborhood and those along Sandmound Boulevard have been ordered to immediately evacuate due to a fast moving moving fire, the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office said Tuesday afternoon.
The order came through the sheriff’s Community Warning System and directs residents to:
“Leave now and go towards Delta Middle School on Cypress Road.”
The warning urges people to only take essential items that can be carried and says that pets must be on a leash or in a carrier. It is highly suggested people lock their doors and windows when they leave and stay off the phone unless they need to report a life-threatening emergency.
Crews with East Contra Costa Fire Protection District and Contra Costa Fire Protection District are responding to the blaze in progress.
