A gas leak has prompted the closure of part of downtown Mill Valley on Thursday afternoon, police said.

Mill Valley police sent out an advisory at 1:24 p.m. about the leak, saying the closure is for a 1-mile radius of the area of Throckmorton and Corte Madera avenues.

No evacuations have been ordered, but people are being asked to avoid the area until further notice.
