Officers who responded to the 3400 block of Monaghan Street in Dublin at about 11:30 a.m. on Thursday to investigate a report of a home-invasion robbery found a 28-year-old woman and a 28-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds, Dublin police spokesman Capt. Nate Schmidt said in a news release.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene and the man who was with her was transported to a hospital to be treated for wounds that aren’t considered life-threatening, according to Schmidt.

The man who lives at the house told investigators that he was asleep when he awoke to banging on his front door, Schmidt said.

Dublin police said they are asking people to stay away from the area because they are continuing to investigate the shooting and are processing the scene for additional evidence.
