A 2.7 magnitude earthquake struck the East Bay Monday afternoon, according go the U.S. Geological Survey.
The quake struck at 3:29 p.m. and was centered 1.7 miles southeast of Castro Valley. There were no immediate reports of any damage or injuries.
Sixteen earthquakes have struck the North Bay near the Geysers in the past 24 hours, with the strongest registering as magnitude 2.5 as recently as 4:19 p.m.
