Man dies after striking Muni island Saturday

A 67-year-old man died when his vehicle struck a Muni bus boarding island early Saturday morning, police said Monday.

The single-vehicle collision was reported at 1:07 a.m. Saturday at Ocean and Ashton avenues west of City College of San Francisco.

Officers arrived and found a silver Nissan SUV had struck the bus stop and the driver was unconscious and still behind the wheel. He was later pronounced dead and his name hasn’t yet been released by the city’s medical examiner’s office.
