East Palo Alto police seek witnesses, justice in one-year-old homicide

East Palo Alto police are asking for witnesses to come forward with information in homicide that’s gone unsolved for a year, police said Thursday.

Danilo Perez of East Palo Alto was gunned down early Dec. 13 in the 1200 block of Beech Street.

Police said they want justice for Perez and closure for his family.

Gunshots picked up by ShotSpotter technology led police to respond to the Beech Street scene at 12:29 a.m. Dec. 13.

Arriving officers found Perez, 19, suffering from bullet wounds. Paramedics tried to save Perez’s life, but he died.

Anyone who witnessed Perez’s shooting or who has any information about the incident is asked to get in touch with police.

An anonymous email can be sent to epa@tipnow.org, an anonymous text to (650) 409-6792, an anonymous voicemail message can be left at the same number and Detective Robert Weigand is accepting calls at (650) 853-7250.
