Volunteers will plant 5,000 native plants in the meadow of the former Fort Winfield Scott Parade Ground on Saturday in San Francisco, according to the Presidio Trust.
The event begins in the morning at the fort, which is in the Presidio.
Volunteers will be working to expand and protect the diversity of plant life in the meadow. The parade ground was the heart of the fort and was completed in 1909.
