Del Mar High School in San Jose was placed on lockdown Thursday afternoon after a female student threatened a male student with a gun off campus, according to police.
The 16-year-old girl was taken into custody on suspicion of “criminal threats and brandishing a weapon,” police said via email. No weapon was located after police initially received the call about a gun at 1:45 p.m.
The Campbell Union High School District wrote on Twitter Thursday afternoon:
“All students and staff are safe.”
“We will continue to provide you with more updates as we receive more information from the police department.”
