Five schools close Thursday in Contra Costa County hills

PG&E’s Public Safety Power Shutoff has prompted four East Bay elementary schools and one high school to close on Thursday, according to the Contra Costa County Office of Education.

Pinole Valley High School and Ellerhorst Elementary School, in Pinole, Madera Elementary School in El Cerrito, Olinda Elementary School in Richmond and Kensington Elementary School in the Kensington area of unincorporated Contra Costa County will all be closed on Thursday.

Parents and families are advised to plan accordingly. Updates on school closures for Thursday and Friday are available on the district’s website at https://www.cccoe.k12.ca.us/.
