Police allege carjacking suspect shot at vehicle during snack stop

A carjacking went sideways last week when the suspect, who had allegedly put a gun to the back of his Lyft driver’s head, ordered the driver to stop for snacks, according to Richmond police.

On Sept. 12, the driver allegedly picked up Marcus Dean, who held him at gunpoint.

Dean gave the driver directions to a gas station, and while the gunman was inside getting food, the driver fled the scene.

Police say Dean ran out of the store, firing a handgun at the vehicle and striking it repeatedly. Footage of the shooting, captured by the gas station’s security cameras, has been posted to social media. Dean was booked into jail on suspicion of kidnapping and attempted murder.
