Police arrest Polk Gulch fatal stabbing suspect

San Francisco police have arrested a suspect in connection with a fatal stabbing last Friday in The City’s Polk Gulch neighborhood.

Police said they found the victim suffering from stab wounds to his torso on the sidewalk of Fern Alley and Van Ness Avenue at 3:41 a.m. The victim has identified as 42-year-old Curtis Neal of San Francisco.

Neal was transported to Zuckerberg General Hospital where he died later died from his injuries.

During the investigation, police from the Northern Station identified 38-year-old Tony Shervaughn Phillips, noting that the suspect and victim had been in a prior altercation.

Phillips was arrested and booked Wednesday on suspicion of homicide.
