A South San Jose vegetation fire had potential to spread to 100 acres before crews stopped forward progress, according to officials with San Jose Fire Department.
The Bayliss Fire originally reported shortly after noon Wednesday has grown to 75 acres in the area of Santa Teresa Boulevard and Bayliss Drive and is now 50 percent contained, Cal Fire officials said.
The fire had jumped over Santa Teresa Boulevard and knocked down power lines earlier in the day. At least 120 firefighters from various departments are at the scene assisting.
