Police pursuit ends in crash, suspect death

An Oakley man died Monday night when he was ejected from a vehicle that crashed during a police pursuit, the Napa County Sheriff’s Office said. Logan Dale Patrick Bogan, 34, of Oakley, died at 8:30 p.m. after the rollover crash at Big Ranch Road at El Centro Avenue in unincorporated Napa County, sheriff’s spokesman Henry Wofford said.

Napa police said the pursuit began near Imola Avenue on the Maxwell Bridge after dispatchers received a call around 7:30 p.m. about a suspicious vehicle parked behind the Raley’s grocery store on Soscol Avenue. The caller said the driver of the vehicle was passed out, and the driver took off after medics arrived. Officers tried to pull the car over on Imola Avenue but the driver didn’t stop, police said.

A Napa County sheriff’s deputy deployed a spike strip on Big Ranch Road, and the driver swerved the vehicle to avoid the spike strip, causing the vehicle to crash, police said.

The driver and Bogan were taken to Queen of the Valley Medical Center, where Bogan died, police said. The driver’s name and condition were not immediately available.
