Pedestrian struck in Livermore succumbs to injuries

A 26-year-old woman was struck and killed by a vehicle while trying to cross a street in Livermore on Sunday night, police said. The woman was 100 feet east of the nearest crosswalk when a westbound vehicle struck her in the 3800 block of East Avenue at 8:43 p.m. Sunday, according to police.

The woman died from the injuries she suffered in the collision, Livermore police Sgt. Steve Goard said.

The investigation into the fatal collision is ongoing but at this point police don’t think that driving while intoxicated was a factor. The driver is cooperating with authorities, according to Goard.

Livermore police said anyone who witnessed the collision should call traffic Officer Chris Starr at (925) 371-4853.
