Man reportedly steals two Maltipoo puppies after responding to ad

Police in San Francisco’s Mission District are investigating the theft of two 8-week-old puppies on Wednesday after the dogs’ owner advertised them for sale on the Internet.

Around 4:30 p.m., officers met with a 56-year-old woman at the Potrero Center shopping center at 16th and Potrero streets.

The woman told officers she had agreed to meet a male suspect at the shopping center after he responded to her ad online. When he arrived, however, the suspect allegedly fled with one male and one female puppy each. The puppies were described as being black Maltipoos.

Anyone with information about the case is being asked to contact the Police Department’s 24-hour tip line at (415) 575-4444 or to text a tip to TIP411 with “SFPD” at the beginning of the message.
