Dry thunderstorms are possible Thursday night into Friday morning in the Bay Area, according to the National Weather Service.
The chance of thunderstorms is slight but lightning associated with the thunderstorms could start fires. Winds are expected to be light so any fires that do start are not likely to spread quickly, weather officials said.
Following the chance of thunderstorms, hot temperatures are expected in inland areas Saturday and Sunday. Temperatures in the inland mountains may reach 105 degrees while temperatures in the valleys may reach 108 degrees.
An Excessive Heat Watch has been issued for interior locations. Along the coast, temperatures are expected to be in the 70s and 80s. Area-wide, cooler temperatures are expected Monday and more cooling is forecast through midweek.
