Inmate found dead at Sonoma County Jail identified

The Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office has identified an inmate who was found dead in his Sonoma County Jail cell Wednesday night as 30-year-old Nino Bosco, of Santa Rosa.

Bosco was housed in the mental health unit of the jail and had eaten non-food items earlier on Wednesday, Sgt. Spencer Crum said. Bosco was returned to the jail and may have intentionally suffocated himself while eating a sandwich, Crum said.

Bosco was arrested June 2 for violating a court order. He was found to be mentally incompetent by a judge on June 7. Foul play is not suspected in the death, Crum said.
